Very Slender Rib (VSR) Technology
• Concept
To produce a RIB with on the water characteristics and an options range that fulfills the demand of the professional RIB users and discerning individuals. To provide a smooth, dry ride allowing the driver to keep warm and also to avoid the back problems often experienced by RIB drivers as a result of repeated "slamming" into waves.
• Design
The VSR range has been designed from first principals by leading-edge Naval Architect Samo Potokar .
Samo is an up and coming Slovenian Naval architect professionally trained in the USA. Samo has a passion , experience and understanding for hull shapes that fulfill the criteria we asked for.
• VSR Characteristics
Professionals spend a lot of time on the water and it’s important the boat will fulfill their needs especially in bad weather and difficult conditions.
The differences from standard RIBs are in its planning and wave riding qualities that are far superior. Subtle detailing on the bow , tube design , hull shape and minimal wetted surface on the water line mean the VSR range RIBs have:
• High cruising speeds at comfort and therefore higher cruising range.
• A drier ride than is normally experienced in RIBs.
• Easy maneuverability to assist with close quarter working and rescue capability.
• Low fuel consumption helping safety, the environment, budget and less time consuming trips to the fuel station.
• Low engine load.
• Better ride qualities mean the crews don’t get exhausted so quickly and reduces the risk of back injury.
• Better positioning of the hull in the waves. This means less strong wave hits on the hull, lengthening hull life and increasing crew safety and comfort.
• Ergonomically designed and tested internal layout mean more comfort for the crew.
• Manufacturing Technology:
The VSRs are made from vinylester resin reinforced with Kevlar and glass.
Our goal is to produce the lightest and strongest boat which makes handling the boat ashore easier, towing the boat easier and above all enhances its on the water characteristics.
VSR RIBs are built using Hypalon® fabric.
Hypalon Fabric has the following benefits;
• Ultra violet light resistance: Thanks to the exceptional characteristics of its outer layer which protects from ageing, Hypalon® offers a wide range of light fast colours.
• Fire resistance: Thanks to its rubber base, the Hypalon® product retains all of its properties even when accidentally exposed to heat.
• Mechanical resistance: The combination of a high tenacity fabric and an outstanding coating, gives Hypalon® a very high level of mechanical resistance.
• Abrasion resistance: The chemical formula of the Hypalon® layer makes Hypalon® very abrasive resistant.
• Hydrocarbon resistance: Thanks to its outstanding quality and performance, Hypalon® is highly recommended for antipollution barriers and oil recovery barges.
• Extreme condition resistance: The Hypalon® product, intended for the leisure, professional or military markets, meets the highest requirements for safe navigation in the most extreme conditions.
• Flexibility: Their flexibility permitting an easy manufacturing and nice curves and cores.
• Gluability: Their ability to easily be glued with Neoprene glues.
